    • To check the seating area and evacuation routes are kept clear of any obstacles. • To check customers have the correct ticket for that performance and to direct customers in/out of the theatre, to their assigned seats, and to the appropriate facilities before, during and after each performance in a friendly and efficient manner. • To assist in delivering excellent customer service to all patrons. • To be the first point of contact for our customers, answering questions, queries and problem solving. • Sell Programmes, ice creams, and merchandise as directed by the Duty Manager. • To supervise the audience during a performance taking appropriate action where necessary, e.g. asking patrons to quieten down or stop taking photos/ using electronic devices. • To ensure the theatre operates within the boundaries of health & safety during each performance (as directed by the Duty Manager). • To act as an evacuation marshal as and when required, assisting the Duty Manager to ensure that patrons vacate the building in a safe and timely fashion. (full training will be given) • To undertake any other appropriate tasks as instructed by the Duty Manager. • Post-show checking of the auditorium for lost property and rubbish pick, including the return of re-useable plastic drinking vessels to the bar. Appropriate gloves and pick-sticks will be provided where necessary. • To act as an ambassador for the Sherman Theatre • To promote and comply with Sherman Theatre’s equal opportunity policy in both the services and treatment of others. • To embrace and adhere to the Brand Values of Sherman Theatre.

    Our Sova ACE project provides 'into work' mentoring support for individuals in the local community. As a volunteer, you will support the individual to achieve their work related goals. The success of our programme depends on people like you giving a little of their time to those who need a helping hand. In return, you will gain valuable experience, skills and get a real sense of achievement, as well as ongoing training, supervision and support. No experience is necessary.   • Volunteer Playworker

    Childrens Play are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help at Children's Play Services play schemes. The service operates the following schemes and is always looking for volunteers to support children & young people in their play environment. The following schemes are available to volunteer at: • After School open access play schemes. • Open access holiday play schemes. • Closed access holiday play schemes, for children with disabilities. • Saturday project, for children with disabilities and their families. Volunteers will be able to get involved with play activities, create activities and support the play team to ensure the play sessions are fun, friendly and challenging. If you have a particular skill to bring along from sport, games, or something creative, however no experience is necessary. You will receive an induction on your first session, child protection on-line course before starting and will be working with an experienced team of play workers. Volunteers will have access to any relevant training, play schemes are lots of fun and a great way to interact with children and the community.

  • Cosmeston Medieval Village is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to join the team in the village. Work will include carrying gardening work in our recreated medieval gardens, maintaining paths, maintenance work on our recreated medieval buildings and interacting with visitors to the site.

  • Cairn Youth Network Ambassador

    The Cairn Youth Network is a branch of the charity dedicated to raising awareness about domestic abuse to students on university campuses across the UK. This programme predominantly encourages volunteers to create and run a society at their university students’ union, and use this as a platform to raise awareness about this issue. Ambassadors will be raising awareness about an issue that is predominantly considered taboo. You will effectively be opening up a dialogue about this issue, removing the stigma associated with it which in turn, will encourage those affected to come forward and seek the support they need. In return, Ambassadors will receive the opportunity to expand their network, obtain mentoring from our directorate, gain excellent experience to cite in job applications and at interviews, a reference and much more.

    Tyfu i Ddysgu is an innovative education and research project which is part of the Sustainable Places Research institute and is funded by the European Union's Horizon 2020 programme as part of the international research network, SUSPLACE. It is a student and community-led project which aims to collaboratively design community learning opportunities for students to undertake in the 2019/20 academic year. As a Community Learning Ambassador you will represent the student body and put your ideas forward for learning projects with five local community groups. You will also be contributing to a research project which aims to advance debates on sustainability education by putting student and community perspectives at the forefront. Tyfu i Ddysgu means 'Growing to Learn' in Welsh and the community groups in the project are all community gardens with a focus on sustainability issues. They encompass a wide range of learning opportunities across disciplines from ecology and education, to business management and graphic design. We are therefore seeking students from a broad range of disciplines and at different stages in their education. You will attend four workshops as well as some additional inductions, field trips and meetings. The project requires a commitment to attend all or most of the sessions as continuity is important in developing a plan and moving from planning to implementation stages of the project.
