  • Cairn Youth Network Ambassador

    Cairn

This opportunity is ongoing, with no end date.

The Cairn Youth Network is a branch of the charity dedicated to raising awareness about domestic abuse to students on university campuses across the UK. This programme predominantly encourages volunteers to create and run a society at their university students’ union, and use this as a platform to raise awareness about this issue. Ambassadors will be raising awareness about an issue that is predominantly considered taboo. You will effectively be opening up a dialogue about this issue, removing the stigma associated with it which in turn, will encourage those affected to come forward and seek the support they need. In return, Ambassadors will receive the opportunity to expand their network, obtain mentoring from our directorate, gain excellent experience to cite in job applications and at interviews, a reference and much more.

    Community Learning Ambassador

    Tyfu i Ddysgu project

This opportunity takes place between 21 Nov 2018 and 31 May 2019. Closing date for applications is 31 Jan.

Tyfu i Ddysgu is an innovative education and research project which is part of the Sustainable Places Research institute and is funded by the European Union's Horizon 2020 programme as part of the international research network, SUSPLACE. It is a student and community-led project which aims to collaboratively design community learning opportunities for students to undertake in the 2019/20 academic year. As a Community Learning Ambassador you will represent the student body and put your ideas forward for learning projects with five local community groups. You will also be contributing to a research project which aims to advance debates on sustainability education by putting student and community perspectives at the forefront. Tyfu i Ddysgu means 'Growing to Learn' in Welsh and the community groups in the project are all community gardens with a focus on sustainability issues. They encompass a wide range of learning opportunities across disciplines from ecology and education, to business management and graphic design. We are therefore seeking students from a broad range of disciplines and at different stages in their education. You will attend four workshops as well as some additional inductions, field trips and meetings. The project requires a commitment to attend all or most of the sessions as continuity is important in developing a plan and moving from planning to implementation stages of the project.
