Student Mentor Scheme
The Student Mentor Scheme helps new students with the transition to university by matching them to a higher year student from their Academic School.
Mentors volunteer their time, they receive full training and supervision and get the opportunity to gain essential employability skills. Each mentor is assigned a group of mentees whom they meet fortnightly or weekly. This allows essential items to be discussed, queries and questions dealt with, as well as an opportunity for students to interact with students from across their school, hence creating a sense of belonging. We offer this scheme across the University.
We are supported by the schools through awareness raising of the scheme, encouraging students to volunteer and encouraging first year students to connect with their mentor.
