The LGBTQ+ Officer (Open) represents all students that are Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, Queer or Plus identifying. They ensure that the student voice is heard and campaign for better facilities and access. They also run events to bring the LGBTQ+ community closer together..
About Me
Hi! Shwmae! My name's August, and I'm your LGBTQ+ (Open) Officer this year. I'm non-binary, and I use they/them pronouns, so working with LGBTQ+ issues and campaigns is something really personal for me. Figuring out my identity, both in my sexuality and gender, became a really important part of who I am, so being able to work with and support students doing the same is incredible. I'm trying to put a particular focus on trans and non-binary students this year, with new campaigns to create awareness and support different identities, as well as continuing long-running campaigns (like the Stand With LGBTQ+ campaign, that we'll be running again in the second semester).
