Live Below The Line

Mon 12 May 2014

I've been shopping!

So it's day one of our Live Below The Line challenge. We were approached by UNICEF on Campus a few weeks ago and asked to take part and given poverty is such a massive issue around the world, it was a real no-brainer. The challenge is to live off £1 a day for 5 days. That has to cover all food and drink...a real challenge but one that millions of people face every day. I'm really interested to see how this pans out for me as I would usually spend around £5 on acoffee in the morning let alone food and drink for the week!

Here's the breakdown of what I bought:

  • 2 Tins of Spaghetti Hoops (20p Each)
  • 2 Jars of Pasta Sauce (39p Each)
  • 2 Packets of Pitta Bread (22p Each)
  • 2 Packets of Sphagetti (20p Each)
  • Peanut Butter (62p)
  • Strawberry Jam (29p)
  • Rice (40p)
  • Frozen Vegetables (£1.00)
  • Blackcurrant Squash (42p)
  • Ginger Nuts (25p)
  • Total: £5.00

I was actually surprised at how far £5 went! I just think I'll just really struggle without fresh fruit and veg.

We'd really appreciate any support we can get so if you want to donate, please do. It's for a really great cause. Wish us luck!

Elliot
