🚐 Cardiff SU Transport – Overview
On the third floor of the Students’ Union, Julian oversees SU Transport, providing safe, reliable vehicle access for students and staff. The department manages a fleet of minibuses and large MPVs, delivers driver training and assessments, and ensures all journeys meet SU and University safety standards.
The Transport Office operates 9:00–16:00, Monday to Friday. While the desk is open for general enquiries, meetings should be arranged in advance due to ongoing driver testing, vehicle checks, and fleet operations.
🚗 Current SU Fleet (Term times) - SU Transport currently leases vehicles for use by clubs, societies, and staff on official activity:
6 × Ford Tourneo (9‑seater)
2 × Ford Transit Minibuses (17‑seater)
All vehicles are maintained to professional standards, with daily checks and defect reporting overseen by SU Transport.
🛻 Additional Vehicle Hire - Where SU vehicles are fully allocated, clubs, societies, and departments may hire external vehicles. Important: Driving an externally hired 17‑seater minibus requires a D1 licence endorsement. Vehicle hire requests must be submitted with a minimum of 72 hours’ notice.
🧑✈️ Driver Training & MiDAS
Anyone wishing to drive SU or hired vehicles must complete the appropriate tests, with different assessments for each vehicle class.

Ar drydydd llawr Undeb y Myfyrwyr, Julian yw ein goruchwyliwr trafnidiaeth gyda chyfrifoldeb am ddarparu amrywiaeth o gerbyd, gan gynnwys bysiau mini a faniau, i fyfyrwyr a staff. Mae'r adran drafnidiaeth nid yn unig yn cynnig mynediad at gerbyd, ond mae hefyd yn cynnal hyfforddiant gyrwyr ac asesiadau er mwyn sicrhau arferion gyrru diogel. Mae'r adran drafnidiaeth ar agor o 9yb i 4yh ar gyfer ymholiadau, er rydym yn argymell trefnu cyfarfod er mwyn sicrhau ein bod ar gael am drafodaeth gyda chi.
Ar hyn o bryd, rydym yn benthyg cerbydau i glybiau a chymdeithasau ar gyfer teithiau swyddogol. Mae ein cerbydau presennol yn cynnwys 6 x Ford Tourneo gyda 9 sedd a 2 x 17 Peugeot Bws.
Mae modd llogi cerbydau gyda dros 72 awr o rhybudd, o geir i SUVs, a MPVs i faniau (SWB a LWB) a bysiau mini. Nodwch fod rhaid cael ardystiad D1 ar eich trwydded gyrru er mwyn gyrru bws mini 17 sedd allanol.
