It’s easy for us to tell you to “eat healthier foods” or “be more active”, but we’re offering resolutions that have your studies in mind, can help you boost your career, and enhance your university experience, all whilst making your CV look a lot more attractive.
Here’s some ideas to kick-start your year:
Apply to become a Student Representative
Student Academic Reps serve as a vital link between students and the school, university and Students' Union. Each programme across the university has Student Academic Reps, who are elected to represent their cohort on educational matters.
The Student Voice team in the Students' Union work closely with the university to ensure that the Student Academic Representation system works, that students have regular opportunities to provide feedback, and that Reps are supported effectively.

Apply for jobs with Jobshop
Did you know you can get paid work experience during your studies? One of the Union’s many services is the Jobshop, a free student employment service which aims to find temporary and part-time casual employment for registered Cardiff University students.
Jobshop offers a wide variety of paid opportunities on and around campus and the city centre, including admin, data entry, research, promotional, bar, catering, warehousing/manual handling, invigilation and retail.
Volunteer!
Volunteering as a student is a great way to give back to the community and help those in need. It also has personal benefits, like helping your career path, building social skills, meeting new people and improving your mental health.
Cardiff Volunteering offers a wide variety of different and exciting projects to choose from which you can fit around your University schedule, as well as loads of one-off events and summer volunteering opportunities. Whether it’s dog walking at the local animal shelter, befriending an elderly person in a care home or helping at a local school, we are sure you will find something that you will love!
Talk to Student Advice
Student Advice is a free, confidential and independent advice service for students at Cardiff University. From advice about employment, health & wellbeing, housing and money, Student Advice is there to support you.
Student Advice is independent of the University, meaning that they can advise and represent students in university policies and procedures. Their fundamental role is to give you impartial advice and guidance and help you understand the options available to you.
Boost your career with Skills Development Service (SDS)
SDS is a professional skills development service that provides you with the opportunity to enhance your skills through professional training and development courses. Joining these courses alongside your studies will help develop your employability skills, give you opportunities to increase your confidence, and allow you to meet like-minded people. Courses range from First Aid or British Sign Language (BSL) to Coaching Skills or Leadership Development.
Give it a Go!
Run by the Students’ Union, clubs and societies, Give it a Go is a programme of events which offer you the chance to try a new skill, learn something new or explore an interesting destination. And the best thing about it? In Spring 2023, you can organise your own Give it a Go events!

Mae'n hawdd i ni ddweud wrthych chi am “fwyta bwydydd iachach” neu “fod yn fwy egnïol”, ond rydyn ni'n cynnig addunedau sydd â'ch astudiaethau mewn golwg, a all helpu i roi hwb i'ch gyrfa, a gwella eich profiad yn y brifysgol, i gyd tra'n gwneud i'ch CV edrych yn llawer mwy deniadol.

Dod yn Gynrychiolydd Myfyrwyr
Mae Cynrychiolwyr Academaidd y Myfyrwyr yn gyswllt hanfodol rhwng myfyrwyr a'r ysgol, y Brifysgol ac Undeb y Myfyrwyr. Mae gan bob rhaglen ar draws y brifysgol Gynrychiolwyr Academaidd y Myfyrwyr, sy'n cael eu hethol i gynrychioli eu carfan ar faterion addysgol.
Mae tîm Llais y Myfyrwyr yn Undeb y Myfyrwyr yn gweithio’n agos gyda’r brifysgol i sicrhau bod y system Cynrychiolaeth Academaidd Myfyrwyr yn gweithio, bod myfyrwyr yn cael cyfleoedd rheolaidd i roi adborth, a bod Cynrychiolwyr yn cael eu cefnogi’n effeithiol.

Oeddech chi'n gwybod y gallwch chi gael profiad gwaith â thâl yn ystod eich astudiaethau? Mae'r brifysgol yn gweithio gyda SiopSwyddi, gwasanaeth cyflogaeth myfyrwyr am ddim sy'n ceisio dod o hyd i waith achlysurol dros dro a rhan-amser ar gyfer myfyrwyr cofrestredig Prifysgol Caerdydd.
Mae Siop Swyddi yn cynnig amrywiaeth eang o gyfleoedd â thâl ar y campws ac o gwmpas canol y ddinas, gan gynnwys gwaith gweinyddol, mewnbynnu data, ymchwil, hyrwyddo, bar, arlwyo, warws/codi a chario, goruchwylio a manwerthu.
Gwirfoddoli!
Mae gwirfoddoli fel myfyriwr yn ffordd wych o roi rhywbeth yn ôl i'r gymuned a helpu'r rhai mewn angen. Mae ganddo fanteision personol hefyd, fel helpu eich llwybr gyrfa, adeiladu sgiliau cymdeithasol, cwrdd â phobl newydd a gwella eich iechyd meddwl.
Mae Gwirfoddoli Caerdydd yn cynnig amrywiaeth eang o brosiectau gwahanol a chyffrous y gallwch eu ffitio o amgylch eich amserlen yn y Brifysgol, yn ogystal â llwyth o ddigwyddiadau un-tro a chyfleoedd gwirfoddoli dros yr haf. Boed hynny’n mynd â chwn am dro yn y lloches anifeiliaid leol, yn dod yn gyfaill i berson oedrannus mewn cartref gofal neu’n helpu mewn ysgol leol, rydym yn siwr y byddwch yn dod o hyd i rywbeth y byddwch yn ei garu!
Siarad â Chyngor i Fyfyrwyr
Mae Cyngor i Fyfyrwyr yn wasanaeth sy’n rhoi cyngor cyfrinachol ac annibynnol am ddim i fyfyrwyr Prifysgol Caerdydd. O gyngor ar gyflogaeth, iechyd a lles, tai ac arian, mae Cyngor i Fyfyrwyr yno i'ch cefnogi.
Mae Cyngor i Fyfyrwyr yn annibynnol ar y Brifysgol, sy'n golygu y gallant gynghori a chynrychioli myfyrwyr ar bolisïau a gweithdrefnau'r brifysgol. Eu rôl sylfaenol yw rhoi cyngor ac chanllawiau diduedd i chi a'ch helpu i ddeall yr opsiynau sydd ar gael i chi.
Rhoi hwb i'ch gyrfa gyda'r Gwasanaeth Datblygu Sgiliau (SDS)
Mae SDS yn wasanaeth datblygu sgiliau proffesiynol sy'n rhoi'r cyfle i chi wella'ch sgiliau trwy gyrsiau hyfforddi a datblygu proffesiynol. Bydd ymuno â’r cyrsiau hyn ochr yn ochr â’ch astudiaethau yn helpu i ddatblygu eich sgiliau cyflogadwyedd, yn rhoi cyfleoedd i chi gynyddu eich hyder, ac yn caniatáu ichi gwrdd â phobl o’r un anian. Mae'r cyrsiau'n amrywio o Gymorth Cyntaf neu Iaith Arwyddion Prydain (BSL) i Sgiliau Hyfforddi neu Ddatblygu Arweinyddiaeth.

Wedi’i redeg gan Undeb y Myfyrwyr, clybiau a chymdeithasau, mae Rho Gynnig Arni yn rhaglen o ddigwyddiadau sy'n cynnig y cyfle i chi roi cynnig ar sgil newydd, dysgu rhywbeth newydd neu archwilio cyrchfan ddiddorol. A'r peth gorau amdano? Yng ngwanwyn 2023, gallwch drefnu eich digwyddiadau Rhowch Gynnig Arni eich hun!

Bydd ymuno â Chymdeithas neu bwyllgor yn Undeb Myfyrwyr Prifysgol Caerdydd yn gwarantu y bydd eich amser yng Nghaerdydd yn fythgofiadwy! Gyda dewis o dros 200 o gymdeithasau, mae rhywbeth at ddant pawb.
