Mental Health First Aid

What is MHFA?

Mental Health First Aid is the help provided to a person who is 
developing a mental health problem, experiencing a worsening of an existing mental health problem, or in a mental health crisis. The first aid is given until the appropriate professional help is received or the crisis resolves

This course involves both self-learning and two online group webinars where learning takes place through a mix of group activities, presentations and discussions. 
Throughout this course, you will be trained in the following topics: 
•    Depression 
•    Anxiety Problems 
•    Substance Abuse 
•    Psychosis

Structure of the Course

The course is broken is to 4 sections of learning:

  1. Self-Learning by working through the online materials for the first 3 modules (Introduction to MHFA, Depression, Anxiety). Duration: Each module can take up to approximately 1 hour to complete.
  2. Webinar 1 – Learning and discussion related to the first 3 modules. Duration: 4 Hours.
  3. Self-Learning by working through the online materials for the last 2 modules (Psychosis and Substance Use). Duration: Each module can take up to approximately 1 hour to complete.
  4. Webinar 2 – Learning and discussion related to the last 2 modules. Duration: 4 Hours.
