Following two successful 'give it a go' sessions, the sprint group is now embarking on our winter training block. This training block is designed to build athletes' speed endurance and conditioning in order to provide a good base of fitness, upon which we can do our speed sessions later in the year ahead of the indoor and outdoor race seasons.

For information about BUCS and how to compete for the club in other events, see the BUCS and Races and Competitions pages.

How to reach the Leckwith track:

The track is located near to Cardiff City Football Stadium, with many forms of transportation available to and from the track (full details below).

The times and directions below were calculated from the Centre for Student Life on the main campus.

On foot:

- If travelling from the Centre for Student Life, begin by walking south along Park Place, before turning right along Gorsedd Gardens Road

- Take the underpass and walk alongside the castle. Follow this road over Cardiff Bridge and continue for 15 minutes until you reach a junction with Kitchener Primary School on your left.

- Turn left onto Leckwith Road, walking past Ninian Park station and Jubilee Recreation Ground, until you reach a McDonalds.

- At this point, House of Sport should be on the right side of the road. Walk through the car park and you will be at the reception of the track.

By bike:

- Follow the same route as if you were travelling on foot. It should take you around 13 minutes.

By car/taxi:

- Follow the same route as if you were cycling or travelling on foot. This should take between 15 and 20 minutes, although be weary of traffic through the city centre.

By train:

To get to the track by train you will need to travel to Ninian Park train station. To do so:

- Board the 5:32pm train at Cathays train station (trains leave every half an hour).

- The train will make 2 stops (at Cardiff Queen Street and Cardiff Central) before arriving at Ninian Park station at around 5:47pm.

- Exit Ninian Park station and walk South West along Leckwith Road for 11 minutes.

- As with the directions for travelling on foot, once you see the McDonalds, House of Sport will be on your right. Walk through the car park and you should reach the reception of the track.
