At Cardiff Students' Union, we understand the significance of addressing the travel challenges faced by our medical students during clinical placements. It has been a significant concern over recent years, one that has resonated through election manifestos and the numerous individual conversations that have taken place.

This year, our dedicated Vice President Heath Park Campus, Alex, took the initiative to address and improve the travel model. In collaboration with the Medical Society (MedSoc), Alex conducted a comprehensive survey aimed at gathering invaluable feedback from our students. The insights gathered were instrumental in formulating a detailed report, which contains well-considered recommendations for enhancing the overall experience.

We have met with a range of stakeholders, including School of Medicine staff and senior university managers, to make the institution aware of the issues and seek change. We're glad to announce this will be taken forward – we are currently preparing a consultation for a short-term solution, while working on a formal proposal with the medical school for long-term solutions.

The Students' Union is dedicated to conducting further research on clinical placements as a whole, taking a cross-campus approach. We will gather feedback as part of our annual Speak Week process before preparing a full submission to the University on clinical placement experience and recommendations for improvement.

Yn Undeb Myfyrwyr Caerdydd, rydym yn deall pwysigrwydd mynd i’r afael â’r sialensiau mae ein myfyrwyr meddygol yn eu hwynebu wrth deithio i leoliadau clinigol. Mae wedi bod yn bryder sylweddol dros y blynyddoedd diwethaf, ac mae wedi cael ei atseinio drwy faniffestos etholiadau a’r trafodaethau unigol niferus sydd wedi cael eu cynnal.

Eleni gwnaeth Is-lywydd ymroddedig Parc y Mynydd Bychan, Alex, gymryd camau i fynd i’r afael â, a gwella’r model teithio. Ynghyd â’r gymdeithas feddygol (MedSoc), gwnaeth Alex cynnal arolwg cynhwysfawr wedi’i anelu at gasglu adborth hollbwysig wrth ein myfyrwyr. Roedd y mewnwelediadau a gasglwyd yn ganolbwynt i greu adroddiad manwl, sy’n cynnwys argymhellion ystyriol er mwyn gwella’r profiad yn ei gyfanrwydd.

Gwelwch yr adroddiad yma

Rydym wedi cwrdd ag amrywiaeth o rhanddeiliaid, gan gynnwys staff yr Ysgol Meddygaeth ac uwch reolwyr y Brifysgol, er mwyn gwneud y sefydliad yn ymwybodol o’r problemau a cheisio newid. Rydym yn falch cyhoeddi y bydd hyn yn cael ei gymryd ymlaen – ar hyn o bryd rydym yn paratoi ymgynghoriad ar gyfer datrysiad tymor byr, tra’n gweithio ar gynnig ffurfiol gyda’r Ysgol Meddygaeth ar gyfer datrysiadau hirdymor.

Mae Undeb y Myfyrwyr wedi’i ymroi i gynnal ymchwil pellach ar leoliadau clinigol, gan ddefnyddio dull traws-gampws. Byddwn yn casglu adborth fel rhan o’n proses Wythnos Siarad flynyddol, cyn paratoi cyflwyniad llawn ar gyfer y Brifysgol am brofiadau lleoliadau clinigol ac argymhellion ar gyfer gwella.

Os oes gennych unrhyw gwestiynau neu fod angen gwybodaeth ychwanegol, peidiwch oedi i gysylltu â ni. Croeso i chi gysylltu ar yr e-byst canlynol.

Rydym yn gwerthfawrogi eich cyfraniad a’ch mewnbwn wrth i ni weithio gyda’n gilydd i wella profiad myfyrwyr Parc y Mynydd Bychan tra ar leoliad.
