"Recognise the whole human race as one" - Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji
Cardiff University's Sikh Soc strives to unite students at Cardiff, enabling them to meet, discuss and develop their understanding and knowledge of Sikhi. We have a good relationship with the local Sikh community, regularly visiting the Gurdwara and carrying out seva (selfless service) with them.
The Sikh Society warmly welcomes anyone from any faith or background to join in at all of our events and learn more about Sikhism.
We host socials for members to get to know one another, including group meals, film nights and bowling!
"Joining the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, he finds the house of kindness and compassion" - Sri Guru Raam Daas Ji
Throughout the year we hold 'Back2Basics' sessions, which begin with a discussion of current Sikh topics and lead onto teachings of related Gurbani and Sakhis. These are informal sessions, open to everyone and designed to improve our basic knowledge of Sikhi.
We host outside speakers such as Basics of Sikhi, Sikh Awareness Society and Midlands Langar Seva Society.
We host regular Simran and Kirtan sessions enabling members to come together and sing our praises of Waheguru, as well as providing time to relax from the stresses of university life.
Many of our members regularly visit the local Gurdwara on Sundays, where they host Paath, Kirtan, Langar as well as Sikhi School and Punjabi classes. We often share taxis to get there so let us know if you're interested in joining us, it's a great way to meet local Sikhs and give Seva to the community.
Our goal at Cardiff University Sikh Society is to provide Sikhi to you! Let us know if you have any suggestions or ideas and we will do our best to bring them to the society!
