Cardiff University Medics Basketball is a mixed basketball team in terms of gender, ability and year groups. We welcome students from all courses, but with a particular aim to accommodate the busy healthcare timetable.

Medicine society?
Being a medic society, this year we want to really push teaching and collaboration with other societies from everything to ISCE, case and progress test practice and more. Also charity work as it’s important to us to help who we can when we can.
In the past years we’ve ran in house revision sessions with senior medics helping younger medics and we have also done big collaborations with charity societies such as Cardiff marrow!
The sessions will consist of warm-ups/stretching, drills and skills training, culminating normally with scrimmages usually either half-court or full court.
Our first team competes in the Cardiff Basketball League as well as Medics Varsity.
Our second team plays friendlies with other societies that have basketball teams in the university and acts to develop some match experience.
A highlight of the year is the NAMS tournament, an inter-uni medics basketball competition as well as our own in house tournament we run over a couple of weeks where all members of the society that want to participate, go to a “draft social” and then spend time playing against each other in full games.
