Aikido Club

Aikido is a classical Japanese martial art that is non-competitive and combines gentle, therapeutic exercise with a powerful system of defence. It is suitable for all ages and abilities and we welcome beginners and more experienced practitioners every year.

Aikido training involves empty hand techniques, such as strikes, throws, joint locks and pins. You will learn to apply and receive these techniques, take falls safely, and move so that you are always at an advantage. We also study the traditional Japanese arts of sword and staff, upon which most Aikido techniques are based.

Aikido is great for:

  • learning practical self defence techniques

  • maintaining physical health and mental wellbeing

  • improving coordination and flexibility

  • developing self-confidence and awareness

  • making new friends and building social skills

If you are looking for a new activity that will improve your daily life then come along to one of our friendly and inclusive classes. We welcome beginners every year and your first class is always free!
