We are Cardiff University Healthcare Music Society- a fun and relaxed musical society for anyone who is interested in singing in a choir or playing in an orchestra. We rehearse at times that suit healthcare students, but we are open to anyone, on any course!
Cardiff Healthcare Music Society (HMS) was founded in 2009 and is still going strong! We bring together students who want to enjoy performing music to a high standard in a relaxed atmosphere. Our ensembles play and perform a variety of genres from pop to jazz to classical and we encourage you to check out our social media to see what we get up to!
We have two main ensembles, our Orchestra, and our Choir, which both rehearse in the University Hospital Wales Chaplaincy (B5). The orchestra meets on a Tuesday at 7pm and the choir meets on a Thursday at 7pm. Rehearsals are from 7-9pm with time for cake and a chat during the evening. We welcome new members at any time and there is no audition process or experience requirement, just come along with your singing voices/instrument and join in!
We host two concerts during the year, our Winter and Spring concerts. These are a great chance for family and friends to see what we have been working on all year. During these concerts, there are also opportunities for members to perform solo or in smaller ensembles of their own creation. All proceeds from these concerts go to charities of our choice and are a great way to support the community. As well as rehearsals and performances, we have society socials all through the year including casual drinks after rehearsals, wellbeing walks and film nights. The Christmas meal is always a highlight for our members!
