Global Brigades is the world’s largest student-led global health and sustainable development organization. Cardiff University's Global Brigades Chapter currently has dental and medical brigades and is hoping to expand this year to include micro-finance and water brigades.
Dental Brigades' mission is to provide immediate dental services in rural communities without access to oral care otherwise. Our current focus is in Panama. Dental Brigade volunteers have the opportunity to provide dental treatment and oral hygiene instruction under the supervision of qualified dentists to communities with limited access to healthcare.
The mission of Medical Brigades is to provide comprehensive health services in rural communities with limited access to healthcare by having volunteers work alongside local licensed medical professionals. Medical Brigade volunteers have the opportunity to shadow licensed professionals in consultations and assist in filling necessary prescriptions under the direction of licensed pharmacists.
