Catholic Society

Catholic Society

As a society we aim to provide a relaxed, secure environment where people can develop friendships and feel comfortable to discuss their faith. We provide a wide variety of spiritual and social events which we hope will enable people to strengthen their faith and meet with other like-minded young people. This ranges from specifically religious events such as prayer groups or Bible study to more varied social events; e.g. fancy dress parties, quiz nights, formal dinners, film & pizza nights etc.

The highlight of every week for us Catholics is Sunday, and after evening Mass we always have a communal meal, cooked by students. This is a great way to socialise and make new friends. Afterwards there will be a trip to the local pub too, so we encourage all our students to stick around!

We welcome people at all stages of their faith journeys and you do not have to be a Catholic to join our society. We work closely with the Catholic Chaplaincy (Newman Hall, Colum Road) and the Very Revd. Fr. Sebastian Jones, who holds the dual-role of Catholic Chaplain and Cardiff University's Co-ordinating Chaplain.

Whether you are a committed, practising Catholic, someone returning to their faith or a non-Catholic interested to learn more, please join the group and come along to any of our events!

Fel cymdeithas rydym yn anelu at ddarparu amgylchedd diogel hamddenol lle gall pobl ddatblygu cyfeillgarwch ac yn teimlo'n gyfforddus i drafod eu ffydd. Rydym yn darparu amrywiaeth eang o ddigwyddiadau ysbrydol a chymdeithasol yr ydym yn gobeithio y bydd yn galluogi pobl i gryfhau eu ffydd ac yn cyfarfod â phobl ifanc eraill o'r un anian. Hyn yn amrywio o ddigwyddiadau penodol crefyddol megis grwpiau gweddi neu astudio Beibl i ddigwyddiadau cymdeithasol mwy amrywiol; ee nosweithiau partïon gwisg ffansi, nosweithiau cwis, ciniawau ffurfiol, ffilm a pizza ac ati

Uchafbwynt bob wythnos i ni Gatholigion yw dydd Sul, ac ar ôl Offeren nos rydym bob amser yn cael pryd o fwyd cymunedol, wedi'i goginio gan fyfyrwyr. Mae hon yn ffordd wych o gymdeithasu a gwneud ffrindiau newydd. Wedyn bydd taith i'r dafarn leol hefyd, felly rydym yn annog ein holl fyfyrwyr i ffon o gwmpas!

Rydym yn croesawu pobl ym mhob cam o'u teithiau ffydd ac nid oes rhaid i chi fod yn Gatholig i ymuno â'n cymdeithas. Rydym yn gweithio'n agos gyda'r gaplaniaeth Gatholig (Neuadd Newman) a Tra Pharchedig Tâd Gareth Jones, y Caplan Catholig a Caplan Cydlynu Prifysgol Caerdydd.
