Cardiff Nightline is a confidential student led phone service. We provide information and serve as a listening ear to students in the Cardiff area. Nightline is open every night during term time between 20:00 - 08:00. We are here to listen to students who wish to discuss anything in confidence. Our service is non-directive, non-judgemental, non-advisory and practices two-way anonymity. We listen, not lecture.
Our volunteers are students just like you, who are fully trained to handle calls through training days and ongoing training sessions. Guest speakers are invited to talk at our training sessions, to giving our volunteers an insight into issues that may be faced by anyone in the student population. In the process of being Nightline volunteers, they learn skills that are transferable to the workplace and make new friends. Volunteers are also given the opportunity to attend social events which have included high ropes climbing in the Brecon Beacons.
As our volunteers are just that, there is no membership fee to join our society. We accept applications from those who wish to become volunteers if they are students of Cardiff University, Cardiff Metropolitan University and the Royal Welsh College of Drama and Music. We're currently recruiting for our October intake, check out our Facebook and Twitter page for the link to the application form on our website.
