Welcome to the Cardiff University Sailing Club website!
The Sailing Club is one of the largest, friendliest, and most inclusive clubs in the Athletic Union. We welcome anyone from complete beginners to experienced sailors and aim to run sessions every Wednesday afternoon and some weekends.
For the more experienced sailors, we run 3 teams who compete in regular events including BUCS. We also have our own event, the Welsh Dragon, on the 18th and 19th November, where we welcome teams from all over the country. For more information about our team racing opportunities, please contact our Team Racing Captain, Barty Gray (find his details below).
We try and get involved in Yacht sailing and also have opportunities and contacts with Cardiff Yacht Club. In the past, we have sent Yacht teams to University competitions.
For those who just fancy a sail, are new to sailing or just want something a bit more relaxed, we go out every Wednesday afternoon (weather permitting). If you would like to go for a sail, a weekly sign-up sheet will be sent out, but there's no obligation to go every week. We aim to do a mix of taught sessions where you can lean new skills and free sessions to do whatever you want. For more information about these sessions please contact our Club Sailing Coordinator, Laura Bell or our Club Sailing Secretary, Jamie Griffith.
When we are off the water, we also organise weekly socials on Wednesdays with great themes and various fancy dress nights. This is a great opportunity to meet fellow sailors and offers a mid-week break. For any information about socials, please contact our Social Secretarys Theo Harper and Alicia Condie.
For any general enquiries, please contact our President, Tamsyn Hills or Vice President, Dan Crook.
