Welcome to Cardiff University RFC.
The Men's team currently run four teams that compete nationwide in the BUCS Leagues with the introduction of a fifth team for 2023/24, as well as two social teams competing in the Cardiff IMG league against other society rugby teams. The flagship of the Club is the 1XV who will once again compete in the BUCS Super Rugby league, having gained promotion in the 2017/18. The league will welcome the UK's most elite rugby teams to do battle at Llanrumney and Cardiff Arms Park, with a select of showcase games being broadcasted on national television through Freesports UK (Sky Ch 422, Virgin Media Ch 553, BT Ch 95, Talk Talk Ch 95, Freesat Ch 252 and Freeview Ch 95).
Commitment to the rugby club can be tailored to meet an individuals academic or external rugby needs, with a range of opportunities for both playing and social members.
In 2023 the 1st XV also reached the BUCS Super Rugby semi finals for the first time in the clubs history, as well as beating welsh rivals Cardiff Met for the first time, and overcoming Swansea twice. However, the highlight of the rugby calendar is the Annual Welsh Varsity Match. For the 2023 Varsity, Cardiff Arms Park provided the stage for the boys to regain Varsity honours for the first time since the emphatic 78-7 2019 victory. Varsity is an incredible day for all club members. Other highlights include weekly socials which are not to be missed, organised away days to support our boys and a tour at the end of the year.
