CARDIFF UNIVERSITY NETBALL CLUB 2021/22
Cardiff University Netball Club have 6 teams who all compete in the BUCS league, with the addition of two teams competing in the IMG league. All new members will be welcomed into a well-integrated and friendly club where we offer the highest level of competitve netball and also the social fun side!
We are hoping to return to a relatively normal year, although we are putting plans in place in case we have to revert back to outdoor training or smaller group sizes. A usual week within the netball club involves full club training at Talybont Sports Centre on Sunday evenings, focusing on skills, drills, and match practice. Fitness sessions are held on a Monday night, also at Talybont. On Monday mornings, the 1st and 2nd teams have strength and conditioning sessions which are held at the SU gym. Shooting practice for all teams also takes place on a Tuesday morning at Talybont. Friday morning training is dedicated time for the 1st and 2nd teams to ensure that players are being stretched to their full ability with a court session at Talybont. New training sessions this year include a recovery/conditioning session for 1s and 2nds on a Thursday at the SU gym, and yoga and HIIT sessions for 3s-IMG.
BUCS and IMG matches take place on a Wednesday, with socials afterwards at Misfits and the SU. Fingers crossed our amazing social secs Charlotte Brooker and Lauren Darwin will be able to organise a variety of different socials across the year! We have no doubt they will if circumstances allow!
The Netball Club also has nights of sophistication – a Christmas Meal with some mid-season awards, end of year meal, The Christmas Charity Ball and the AU ball. On top of this there will be a few events held at Revs throughout the year, which is our sponsor for this season.
Our fundraising sec Mollie Chapman has chosen the charities Breast Cancer Now and the British Heart Foundation for this year. These charities were chosen because we think the work these organisations do is invaluable and the awareness they raise is so incredibly important, especially as an all-female sports society. Mollie has some amazing ideas for the upcoming year which will be revealed in the upcoming weeks on our social media!
On TUESDAY 14TH SEPTEMBER we will be holding an Instagram Q&A all day, where our Club President, Courtney Wilbor, will be available to answer any questions you have throughout the day.
Freshers Fayre this year is scheduled for the 28th and 29th September where you will have the opportunity to come and speak to the committee about any questions you might have and to get a better insight into the club! We will also be holding a Give it a Go session on the 28th September from 17:00-18:00, please sign up via our Instagram page through the link on the Give it a Go post.
