The University Kickboxing Championships are the single largest Martial Arts competition in the UK, open exclusively to University students from 20 different Universities, and running for 13 years.
Preliminaries are held in matted areas with grand finals in a Kickboxing ring.
The form of competition is LIGHT CONTINUOUS sparring, with techniqies not being thrown any harder than 20% full power. Lesser contact demonstrates higher skill level and is more favourable to judges and referee's.
Techniques allowed are the usual ones we practise on Fridays and Sundays (i.e. no elbows, knees, spinning back fists, grappling, throwing etc.)
The Championships are held in Leeds University on 23rd March. Please let us know as soon as possible whether you're interested in fighting!!!
Any questions, please don't hesitate to talk to one of the instructors or committee members.
