Kayaking Club

Welcome to Cardiff University Kayakers!

Cardiff University Kayakers is one of the largest, most active and most fun clubs you can join at Cardiff University. We welcome all abilities, from complete beginners to seasoned kayakers, and aim to get as many people out on the water sharing the sport that we love! Our river trips are structured over the year to give complete beginners a chance to push themselves on rivers of increasing difficulty whilst under the safe supervision of more experienced paddlers.

We meet once a week on Tuesdays at a local pool to learn the basics of paddling as well as how to play Canoe Polo (a bit like basketball in boats, another reason to get involved!) in the warm! Our pool sessions have a great relaxed atmosphere and are just as much about meeting new people, catching up with friends as learning how to do flips'n'dips. You will also benefit from some excellent coaching from our more experienced members in the club, several of which work as kayaking instructors. Once you've booked onto the pool session we pick up at 19:15 at Talybont Halls or 19:30 outside the Centre for Student Life (it's best to join our Facebook page for any updates on timings or locations).

                                  French Alps 2022

The club has trips running most weekends to rivers throughout the country, the artifical white water course in Cardiff bay, polo competitions and the climax of the year is 2 weeks of sun, beer and kayaking in the French Alps - a trip not to be missed! We also run one of the largest Canoe Polo tournaments in the country for universities from across the UK giving kayakers the chance to compete and party together.

                                CUCP 2022

For those not so keen on getting wet, the social side of our club is equally as active as the sporting side. With multiple socials a month, ranging from BBQs to themed nights out, there's never a dull week! With such a large and varied membership, our socials are as good as they get at university, and even if going out isn't your scene and you'd rather chill in the pub with a pint, there's no shortage of that post-pool session!
