Frequently Asked Questions
Here at CUCPSC, we welcome all members, whether they are seasoned shooters or someone who has never set eyes on a shotgun before. So we understand that you may have many questions about our club.
Here are a few of our FAQs, which we hope will answer your questions, but if there are any others, please contact us via Instagram, Facebook or email, and we will try to answer your queries as soon as we can.

Is it safe?
We understand that this activity can sound quite scary. However, we as a club take safety very seriously and have put in many thorough precautions and procedures. With everyone following these processes, there is no need to worry.
Do you need a shotgun license?
NO.
You do not need to hold a license to shoot with us; we provide guns, cartridges, ear protection, and training for all of our members and anyone who wishes to shoot with us.
What should I wear/bring?
We have no formal dress code for our weekly shoots. However, we are in Wales and shoot outdoors, so check the weather before coming to shoot and choose appropriate footwear and jackets.
Head and eyewear are advised, e.g. a baseball cap and sunglasses.
How do I sign up/get involved?
All events which are hosted by the club will be on our Facebook group, on which you can indicate your attendance and then purchase tickets to our weekly shoots on the day, from our SU website.
For our GIAGs, please just purchase any ticket that suits you, and we cannot wait to meet you there.
When/where are shoots?
Our weekly shoots take place on Wednesdays at Treetops Sporting Shots. We meet outside the back of the SU by McSims, ready to leave at 13:15.
We then get back to the SU at the latest of 16:30, and then meet up again in the evenings for our legendary YOLO socials.
How much does it cost?
We offer two types of memberships: a full membership at £40, a half-year membership at £25, and a social membership at £10. Our full and half-year memberships include discounted rates on weekly shoots, competitions, and our very fetching stash.
We offer a variety of ticket prices for our weekly shoots, which cover the cost of the shooting ground, cartridges, transport, insurance, and training.
Members' shoot price is cheaper than for non-members. This means that you will earn back the cost of your membership over the year each time you shoot.
Drivers will pay a reduced fee to help them recoup the cost of fuel when helping us all to get to the shooting ground.
Own cartridges: if you are going to shoot using your own cartridges, you pay a reduced fee to accommodate this.
Can I store my personal shotgun?
The short answer is yes. We, as a club, have the facilities to safely and legally store members' shotguns for them to use at weekly shoots and competitions.
Please speak to the President or Captain for further details and arrangements.
Are there opportunities to compete with the club?
Yes.
Every year, we compete at BUCS Championships as well as attend various invitational competitions throughout the year.
We also host our own internal and external competitions throughout the year.
In short, there are plenty of situations in which you can compete at the highest level throughout the year, and hopefully, the opportunity to win us some silverware.
What is your refund policy?
It is at the discretion of the committee as to whether refunds are issued.
