Clay Pigeon Shooting Club
Cardiff University Clay Pigeon Shooting Club (CUCPSC) provides Cardiff Students with the opportunity to engage in clay pigeon shooting under a supervised yet fun environment as well as being part of one of the country's best shooting teams. At CUCPSC we cater for all levels, from complete beginner to national and international level shooters. We offer coaching and advice to all levels.
There is no need to possess a Shotgun Certificate or own your own shotgun to come shooting as CUCPSC provide all equipment (shotguns, ear defenders, eye protection, cartridges) for all members but can cater to those willing to bring their own.
Shooting takes place every Wednesday with the ocassional Saturday shoot at South Wales 2000 Premier Plus Shooting Ground (catering for all disciplines such as Sporting, Skeet and Trap). We meet at the back of the Student's Union at 1.30pm which is followed by memorable socials every Wednesday evening. We usually host a variety of themed and casual events which usually end in the SU or Live Lounge. We also arrange the occassional non-drinking events (such as surfing if the weather is nice or club roast dinners) to cater for everyone.
CUCPSC offers the opportunity for all members to compete in the annual BUCS tournament and compete at multiple University competitions throughout the year, traveling to Nottingham, St Andrew's, Edinburgh, Oxford, Bristol and much much more. At the end of the 2021/2022 season we achieved
Monmouth Christmas Cup – 1st for our Mixed team and Grace (our new Captain) won Ladies High Gun
Edinburgh – 1st and 2nd in the Flush
Bristol – 1st for the Men’s first team, 1st for the mixed team and Grace won Ladies High Gun yet again
Nottingham - 2nd for our mixed team, Charlie came 1st in the skeet competition and Grace was runner up for Ladies High Gun.
Cardiff-Swansea University Varsity - We beat Swansea University at the Varsity trials at SW2000
