UAEM Cardiff

A third of the world’s population does not have regular access to essential medicines and this figure rises to 50% in the poorest parts of the world.

  • Universities and publicly funded research institutions will be part of the solution to the access to medicines crisis by promoting medical innovation in the public interest and ensuring that all people regardless of income have access to essential medicines and other health-related technologies.
  • We believe it is important for students to be aware of this important issue as we are uniquely positioned to push for change in our university, which is currently a top 5-research institution.
  • It is an opportunity to get involved with a cause that has tangible objectives, and paves the way for students studying not just medicine, but law, pharmacy, anthropology, chemistry etc. to come together and fight for this issue.

UAEM Cardiff Aims:

  • Organise events and campaigns raising awareness for the access to medicines crisis.
  • Empower students to respond to the access and innovation crisis.
  • Ensure that university medical research meets the needs of people worldwide through campaigning for changes to University academic research policies and patents.

If you believe in social justice and health equity then join us at our next event, we promise you won’t regret it!
