Language and Linguistics Society

The Language and Linguistics society combines an academic love for the subject with a social aspect, key to the maintenance of the society. This society breaks the ‘arts student’ stereotype, encouraging regular social activities and informal meetups as a way for students studying English Language and Linguistics to get to know each on an informal basis. The society is open to undergraduates and post-graduates and there is a key emphasis on mixing with different year groups. Since this society is academically based, the academic side is equally as important and will involve guest speakers, informal study groups, presentations from postgraduates to talk about postgraduate study and end of term book sales. There will be a social before Christmas but the main dates for the diary include a society ball at Easter time and a summer exertion when everyone’s exams are finished. More details to follow in due course.
