FAD (Dance Society)
What is FAD?
FAD is a quadruple award winning dance society within Cardiff Students' Union, offering commercial-style classes every week at Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced levels. FAD stands for Fitness and Dance, and that’s exactly what we aim to bring to our members!
We run classes every Wednesday:
Beginners: 2-3pm
Intermediate: 3-4pm
Advanced: 4-5pm
What is Commercial Dance?
Our commercial dance classes are a fun, sassy way to keep fit while being surrounded by an amazing group of people. The style is best described as what you’d typically see in modern/pop music videos — think Beyoncé, Britney, and JLo!
We never take ourselves too seriously and welcome everyone to join. All classes are taught by committee members who are students here at Cardiff University.
Do you have an opportunity to perform?
Yes! All members have the opportunity to perform routines learned in classes at both the Winter and Spring showcases, held at the end of each term.
Do we have a competition team?
We do! Members can audition for Troupe— our competition team! They perform on behalf of the society and represent Cardiff University at competitions across the UK.
Do we run socials?
Of course! Over the years, we’ve built a reputation for hosting some hilarious, lively, and FADulous socials every week — starting at our sponsor, Misfits and ending with nights out at YOLO!
We also run non-alchoholic socials, charity events, and collaborate with other dance societies within Cardiff Students' Union.
