We are Expression Dance, your contemporary dance society of Cardiff!
We're a fast paced but down to earth group in the way we act and the way we dance. The society consists of friendly contemporary dancers whom throughout the year improve their dance skill and technique. We have a varied amount of opportunities to perform and compete around the UK but above all love to dance. We vary our style according to occasion and therefore everyone gets the chance to be experience different styles and choreography. We're a close-knit society giving opportunities for all dancers whether you just wish to try something new or are already an advanced dancer.
Our full membership includes FREE dance and fitness classes, as well as many opportunities to audition, perform and attend workshops. We also have a fitness and socials membership for those that want to be apart of the society but perhaps don’t have the time to do multiple dance classes a week. This includes a FREE weekly fitness class offering different sessions each week to increase our fitness levels as well as access to all our fun socials!
We have many opportunities for members, both in and out of the competition teams, to perform in front of an audience. Last year we competed in 3 competitions including Southampton University Dance Competition, Gloucestershire University Dance Competition and our own competiton here at Cardiff University, during these competitions our dancers placed in various categories including our solo and duet performers placing third and first. We also performed in the Spring and Winter showcases at the Students Union, a great way to show your house/flat mates what you have been up to throughout the year, along with our very own showcase! We also have lots of other exciting opportunities for performance up our sleeves.
The highlight of the Expression calendar, our tour abroad will be returning this year so keep your eyes peeled for more information soon.
