Are you interested in volunteering in the UK, or would you like to learn about the role that science, technology, and engineering have in international development? Then EWB is the society for you!
EWB Cardiff is the Cardiff students' branch of Engineers Without Borders (EWB) UK, a charity that “leads a movement for change to embed global responsibility into the heart of engineering”.
As a student branch, we have several things on offer:
Meaningful discussions on global sustainability issues, as well as insightful talks from guest speakers with experience in volunteering and engineering for change.
Workshops and projects, which focus on solving real-life problems with sustainable methods through fun and creative ways, such as designing and building scale models of projects.
Partnership with Repair Cafe Wales, where you can gain experience in fixing items and helping the local community.
Outreach in local primary schools - Inspire the next generation of engineers and scientists and show children how appropriate technology can transform the lives of those in developing countries.
Social events and collaborations with other societies, charities, and local communities that share our love for sustainability and science.
Info about EWB UK's placements with international partners across Africa, Asia, and Latin America, working on challenges from improving water supply and sanitation to providing solar electricity for off-grid communities.
Lots of fun! - NOT JUST FOR ENGINEERS :)
