Who are we and what do we do?
Cardiff Anime Society brings together anime and manga fans in a variety of different ways, including regular and variety events. These include anime screenings, creative workshops, friend-making socials, chill gaming nights, occasional arcade bar visits, and much more! In addition, one-off seasonal events such as ice skating in the winter and cherry blossom viewing in the spring were very popular outings that will be held again this year. We also plan to host a trip to London MCM/EGX alongside Cardiff Anime & Gaming Con.
We are proud to say we won Most Improved Society after our revival last academic year, and are excited to continue the great work of our predecessors to bring you even more memorable events and enjoyable socials!
Where to find us
We highly recommend joining our Discord server as it is our most updated platform, but we are also regularly active on our Instagram, and will be in touch every 3-4 weeks via email to inform our members of the following month’s events.
Our events are mostly held in the John Percival building on Wednesdays and Fridays. Occasional excursions are also held to local cafes, parks, and bars.

Are you open to all levels of familiarity with anime/manga?
- Whether you’ve been watching anime since you were a child or you’ve been recently introduced to the medium, everyone is welcome in Anime Society! There is a wide range of members who engage in very different ways including casual enjoyers, cosplayers, artists, manga-only readers, and so many more. Our events vary and cater to multiple sub-niches while still being accessible to general fans.
What types of anime are screened?
- We screen a variety of genres and seasonal anime from action-filled shounen, cosy romance shows, absurdist comedies, and more. Our screenings are a great chance to expand your tastes and discover new potential favourites. Additionally, we regularly host voted screenings where you as a member will have the opportunity to submit your own suggestions!
Do I need to be a drinker to come to bar socials?
- Our society has an incredibly diverse range of people in both the community and committee, which means there will always be consideration given to non-drinkers and an aim to maintain an inclusive environment for everyone regardless of lifestyle. Many attendees are light or non-drinkers, so don't feel hesitant to come along because you're sure to have a fun time either way!
