CyberSoc

Who are we?

Hi! We’re CyberSoc, a renowned platinum-tier society and the place for all things coding and tech at Cardiff University. We aim to be a key-part of student life for Computer Science and Software Engineering students, but we’re always keen to welcome in students from other courses.

What can I expect as part of CyberSoc?

You can expect a variety of talks, workshops, hackathons, and socials from various large organisations like AWS, as well as smaller local start-ups. These events look great on your CV. Employers have frequently cited demonstration of passion for the fields and willingness to learn as top factors in the recruitment decision-making process. On top of that these events offer great networking opportunities and a chance for you to learn vital skills for your future careers. Did we mention these events are free and often involve pizza?

Worried you don’t know much about coding?

Don’t worry, a lot of our events are beginner friendly, and we’re always on hand to help you get started. We all started knowing nothing too. Throughout the year we also aim to offer workshops for Python and MatLab to help beginners get up and running. These languages are also popular in many university courses so you can get ahead of the game. Plus, more and more employers value coding knowledge.

Already got some experience?

Take on our hackathons and go for the win, in previous years we’ve given away Amazon Echo Dots and we have too many Amazon gift cards to count. Come along to the socials and meet other tech-lovers, maybe you’ll find your future start-up co-founder?

Join CyberSoc today and can kick-start your journey into the world of technology with like-minded individuals.
