Join the Student Advice Freshers Team

Some really exciting developments are taking place in the Student Advice Service of the Students' Union. We're looking for students to get involved and lead development and provision of advice and welfare services.

We're aiming to recruit 20 of the most amazing student volunteers we can find to introduce the Student Advice service to new students. This is an amazing opportunity make a signficant difference to student welfare and enhance your CV while doing it.

Responsibilities include meeting and greeting of new students for Student Advice Service, assisting with welfare campaigns and the delivery of important welfare based messages. We also intend to develop this role after Freshers' to offer peer-to-peer support and gateway assessment in the Student Advice Service.

What's in it for me?

We look after our volunteer team here in Student Advice. As well as being warmly welcomed into the Students' Union family, you'll become an integral part of one of the most proactive forces working to enhance Student Welfare at Cardiff University.

The Student Advice Freshers Team will all get:

  • Free Student Advice Stash (a t-shirt and lanyard)
  • A free ticket to the Students' Union Freshers' Ball
  • Free Food vouchers for the Students' Union food outlets
  • An extra-degree CV reference from the Students’ Union.
  • A Students' Union Contribution Certificate.

The best thing you'll get from being a part of Team Advice is the friendship and connection with like minded individuals. Being a part of something amazing, with amazing people and a legacy of improvement is what we can offer you.

What are you asking for?

Joining the Freshers Advice Team is a more-than-manageable commitment. We recognise that you'll have other things going on in Freshers'. We ask everyone on the team to give:

  • 15 - 20 hours of flexible shift commitment during the Freshers fortnight.
  • To be available and commit to training on 16th September 2016.
  • Unbridled enthusiasm and passion for the Students' Union, the student experience or student welfare.
