Supporting students to have fun in a safe manner will always be a
fundamental part of how we organise and deliver events. As a not-
for-profit venue, we invest heavily in safety initiatives which we
have outlined below. In return, we require our attendees to help
keep themselves and others in the club safe. Our attendees need to
play their part to keep the student community safe and ensure their
behaviour in the club is in line with our code of practice at all times.

How we keep you safe in our venues
Y Plas night club is one of the largest Students’ Union clubs in the UK. Each week, on average 8,000 students attend the popular club nights – we are proud that these events are a core part of the Cardiff student experience for a large proportion of the student body.
Whilst serious incidents in our clubs are minimal, we are aware that damaging and, on occasion, harmful activity can still occur. We take all reports of inappropriate, harmful and unlawful behaviour incredibly seriously and want to encourage any student who experiences these types of behaviours to report it. Our staff and security team are on hand during events to handle complaints, if you do not feel comfortable reporting at the time, please see the reporting and accessing support section below.
Safety Initiatives
Cardiff Students’ Union has been working with local partners for many years to deliver other initiatives that will help to safeguard your personal safety at night. These initiatives are available for any Cardiff University student to use:
Safety Bus
We have partnered with South Wales Police to deliver the Cardiff Safety Bus. The bus patrols the city centre every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday night and will provide help to anyone who needs it.
Private Medical Staff
During each club night event, we pay for private medically trained staff, with trained paramedics, to be in our venues to support with any medical issues that occur.
Where You At app
We’re working in partnership with the Where You At app. The app helps you stay connected and find your friends in our venues. You will have access to offline venue maps, friend finding and event information – you can also send pings to notify friends of your location offline. Keep connected and enjoy your night!

Drink Spiking Testing Kits
We take the personal safety of our attendees very seriously. Drink spiking with drugs is incredibly uncommon. Spiking by injection is even more uncommon. There has been a significant amount of media exposure contributing to a very real fear. Research however suggests that it is actually very rare.
If you believe you have been spiked in our venues, please report to a staff member who will alert the onsite paramedic for assistance. We have invested in drink testing kits to give you immediate testing options at our venues and would encourage any student who is concerned about themselves or a friend at our events to speak to a staff member to access one of these.
Please do not be hesitant of taking a spiking test kit in the Union, no action will be taken as a result of a positive test for drugs taken knowingly. Medical staff are employed for your safety.
Drink Toppers
Drink Toppers & Bottle Stops are available free of charge at all our bars for anyone who wants added drink protection. Please help yourself or ask a member of our bar team.
*Shot glasses don't have lids available due to the size of the glass.
Security staff
We employ a large security team to ensure the safety of attendees at events. This includes several dedicated positions in observational roles to watch for, and act on, inappropriate behaviour.
Searches on Entry
We conduct random searches as a condition of entry. For occasional events, sniffer dogs are utilised to support the identification of illegal substances. We have a zero-tolerance approach to possession of drugs in our venues, those caught can face a lifetime ban to all events (club nights, gigs and external events) and we may report to the police.
Extensive CCTV and Body Cameras
We have invested heavily in a CCTV system that has over 300 cameras in operation across our venues. On top of this, many of our security staff will be wearing body cameras to support gaining footage of incidents where required to aide police investigations.
Staff Training Programme
We’re developing our staff training programme to include information about how to handle inappropriate behaviours and to spot signs of drink tampering.
These initiatives are regularly reviewed to understand the effectiveness and we welcome any feedback or improvement suggestions by emailing [email protected].
Student Behaviour Expectations
To ensure all our club night and event goers can enjoy themselves in a safe manner, we require all attendees to always behave in an appropriate and respectful manner. If behaviours fall short of our Code of Practice, you will be ejected from the venue and may face a venue exclusion/ban for periods ranging from four weeks to a permanent lifetime ban, we may also pass information about the incident on to the police or to the University complaints procedures.
Examples of activity that will not be tolerated in our venues
... And will result in persons being asked to leave the premises and likely to face a ban.
- Intimidating or abusive behaviour
- Sexual harrassment
- Pushing or shoving
- Violence or aggression of any kind

Sut rydym yn eich cadw'n ddiogel
Clwb nos Y Plas yw un o'r clybiau Undeb Myfyrwyr mwyaf yn y DU. Pob wythnos mae tua 8,000 o fyfyrwyr yn mynychu ein nosweithiau poblogaidd - ac rydym yn falch fod y digwyddiadau yma'n rhan fawr o brofiad llawer o'n myfyrwyr yma yng Nghaerdydd.
Er bod digwyddiadau difrifol yn ein clybiau yn anarferol, rydym yn ymwybodol y gall gweithgarwch niweidiol ddigwydd ar adegau. Rydym yn cymryd pob adroddiad o ymddygiad anaddas, niweidiol, neu anghyfreithiol o ddifrif ac rydym am annog unrhyw fyfyriwr sy'n profi'r math yma o ymddygiad i wneud adroddiad. Mae ein staff a thîm diogelwch wrth law yn ystod digwyddiadau er mwyn delio â chwynion, ond os nad ydych yn teimlo'n gyfforddus i adrodd digwyddiad ar y pryd, gwelwch yr adran adrodd a chefnogaeth isod.
Mentrau Diogelwch
Mae Undeb Myfyrwyr Caerdydd wedi bod yn gweithio gyda phartneriaid lleol am flynyddoedd er mwyn darparu mentrau sy'n helpu eich diogelu gyda'r nos. Mae'r mentrau canlynol ar gael i fyfyrwyr Prifysgol Caerdydd eu defnyddio:
Bws Diogelwch
Rydym wedi partneru gyda Heddlu De Cymru i sefydlu Bws Diogelwch Caerdydd. Mae'r bws yng nghanol y ddinas ar nosweithiau Mercher, Gwener, a Sadwrn a bydd yn darparu cymorth i unrhyw sydd ei angen.
Staff Meddygol Preifat
Yn ystod pob digwyddiad clwb nos, rydym yn talu ar gyfer staff meddygol preifat, gyda pharafeddygon hyfforddedig, yn ein lleoliadau i gefnogi gydag unrhyw broblemau meddygol sy'n codi.
Ap Where You At
Rydym yn gweithio mewn partneriaeth ag ap Where You At. Mae'r ap yn eich helpu i gadw mewn cysylltiad a dod o hyd i'ch ffrindiau yn ein hadeilad. Bydd gennych fynediad at fapiau all-lein, adnodd canfod ffrindiau, a gwybodaeth ddigwyddiad - gallwch hefyd anfon pings er mwyn rhannu eich lleoliad gyda ffrindiau all-lein. Cadwch mewn cysylltiad a mwynhewch eich noson!
Lawrlwythwch yr ap
Citiau Profi Sbeicio Diodydd
Rydym yn cymryd diogelwch ein mynychwyr o ddifrif. Mae sbeicio diodydd gyda chyffuriau yn hynod anghyffredin. Mae sbeicio gyda phigiad hyd yn oed yn fwy anghyffredin. Mae tipyn o drafodaeth am y mater yn y wasg wedi cynyddu pryderon am y drosedd real yma. Ond mae ymchwil yn awgrymu ei fod yn anghyffredin iawn.
Os credwch eich bod wedi cael eich sbeicio, adroddwch y mater i aelod o staff a fydd yn rhoi gwybod i'r parafeddyg ar y safle. Rydym wedi buddsoddi mewn citiau profi diodydd er mwyn rhoi'r opsiwn i chi brofi ar unwaith yn ein hadeilad, ac mi fydden yn annog unrhyw fyfyriwr sy'n pryderi am eu hunain neu ffrind i siarad gydag aelod o staff er mwyn cael mynediad at y rhain.
Peidiwch boeni am wneud prawf sbeicio yn yr Undeb, ni fyddwn yn cymryd unrhyw gamau o ganlyniad i brawf positif ar gyfer cyffuriau gwnaethoch eu cymryd yn bwrpasol. Mae staff meddygol wedi'u cyflogi ar gyfer eich diogelwch.
Topwyr Diodydd
Gweinir pob diod gyda chaead*. Mae stopwyr poteli ar gael am ddim o bob bar ar gyfer unrhyw un sydd am ddiogelu eu diodydd ymhellach.
*Nid oes gan wydrau 'shots' caeadau oherwydd eu maint.
Staff Diogelwch
Rydym yn cyflogi tîm diogelwch mawr er mwyn sicrhau eich diogelwch yn ein digwyddiadau. Mae hyn yn cynnwys sawl aelod o staff wedi'u gosod mewn mannau arsylwi er mwyn gwylio am, a gweithredu os fydd, ymddygiad anaddas.
Chwilio wrth y Fynedfa
Rydym yn chwilio ar hap fel amod mynediad. Ar gyfer rhai digwyddiadau, bydd cŵn synhwyro cyffuriau yn cefnogi ein gwaith wrth ddod o hyd i sylweddau anghyfreithlon. Mae gennym bolisi dim goddefgarwch tuag at gyffuriau yn ein hadeilad, a gall y rheiny sy'n cael eu dal wynebu gwaharddiad oes o bob digwyddiad (clwb nos, gig, a digwyddiadau allanol), ac efallai fe wnawn adrodd y mater i'r heddlu.
Teledu Cylch Cyfyng a Chamerŵu Corff
Rydym wedi buddsoddi mewn system teledu cylch cyfyng gyda dros 300 o gamerau ar draws ein hadeilad. Ar ben hyn, bydd llawer o'n staff diogelwch yn gwisgo camerau corff i gynorthwyo gyda thystiolaeth os bydd digwyddiad yn arwain at ymchwiliad heddlu.
Rhaglen Hyfforddi Staff
Rydym yn datblygu rhaglen hyfforddi staff i gynnwys gwybodaeth ar sut rydym yn delio gydag ymddygiad anaddas a'n adnabod arwyddion o sbeicio diodydd.
Mae'r mentrau yma'n cael eu hadolygu'n rheolaidd er mwyn deall eu heffeithiolrwydd, ac rydym yn croesawu unrhyw adborth neu awgrymiadau am wellianau trwy e-bost at [email protected].
Disgwyliadau Ymddygiad Myfyrwyr
Er mwyn sicrhau bod ein holl ymwelwyr yn mwynhau eu hunain yn ddiogel, rydym yn gofyn i bawb ymddwyn mewn modd addas a pharchus. Os nad yw'ch ymddygiad yn dilyn ein Cod Ymddygiad, byddwch yn cael eich tynnu o'r lleoliad a gallwch wynebu gwaharddiad am gyfnod o bedwar wythnos i oes. Gallwn hefyd drosglwyddo gwybodaeth am ddigwyddiad at yr heddlu neu'r Brifysgol.
Dyma rhai esiamplau o ymddygiad na fyddwn yn ei oddef
