Professional Development in Leadership
This diploma provides you with the opportunity to develop and enhance your leadership and interpersonal skills, as well as developing your knowledge of how to co-ordinate, motivate and shape individuals and team members.
During this diploma you will attend workshops and evidence interpersonal experiences that you have undertaken in a work or voluntary situation.
Please note, the Diploma Award has now been closed off to new applications.
How do I complete the diploma?

Attend 5 x 2 hour leadership workshops

Record interpersonal experiences against laid down standards.

These will be graded as follows:

Gold: 3 separate records

Silver: 2 separate records

Bronze: 1 separate records

Complete a Reflection & Articulation activity

How will I receive my diploma?

Once you complete the Diploma you will receive certification signed by Cardiff University's Vice Chancellor and the Students' Union President.

An added bonus is that for $60.00 plus VAT you will be to receive an Institute of Leadership & Management additional accreditation.
This course will provide you with basic training in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and several additional emergencies and ailments. The course is recognised for 3 years.
How do I complete the course?

You will attend 1 x 6-hour session during which time you will carry out lots of practical activities such as CPR and bandaging. In addition, you will learn the appropriate measures to take in a range of emergency situations.
How much does the course cost?
Occupational Health & Safety
This course is now running in digital format only.
This Level 1 course will provide you with a basic understanding of British Sign Language.
By the end of the course, you will be able to:

Decipher the narrations of simple information presented to you in BSL.

Describe events, issues, or matters in BSL.

Engage in simple conversation with individuals who are Deaf, both in social situations and in the workplace or at school/college.
How do I complete the course?

You will attend a weekly in person session between October 2023 and March 2024.

The course for 2022/23 will take place Wednesdays, 5:30pm - 7:30pm.

The cost of this course is dependant on numbers.

If 15 students sign up to the course the cost is £175.00 per person.

Included within this cost is all tuition and full access to the online course enabling you time to practice BSL in your own time.

You have the option to undertake an assessment at the end of the course for £115.00

What are the conditions for attending First Aid courses?
- We expect you to arrive at least 5 minutes before a course session is due to begin.
- If you are unable to attend a course on the day, please email fastwales@hotmail.co.uk as soon as possible and mark the subject line “From Cardiff student”.
- If you are unable to attend and do not advise us before the course starts, you will lose your course fee.
- If you do advise us before the course, we will look to transfer you to another date subject to availability.
- If you subsequently cannot attend a later date and have advised us before the course, we will consider a refund.
- To get the most out of the course, we advise that you actively participate in all the activities.
When I tried to book a 1st aid course it appears full. Can I still attend?
No, the course is sold out and subject to the maximum number permitted. Please book onto an alternative date.
How do I cancel my place on the course?

If you do advise us before the course, we will look to transfer you to another date subject to availability. I have already graduated; can I still attend courses?
We recognise the value students made to the university while studying and appreciate the roles of alumni. If your student ID card still works, book as if you are still studying. If it has expired, please contact

I am taking part in a course as part of a sports club or society. How do I book?
Contact
Firstaidcourses@cardiff.ac.uk with the following information: Club or Society name, your name, the number of students attending and preferred date(s). Fees will be debited from your club or society account.
Is there a text/exam in the course?
The course does not involve an official test although you will be continually assessed by the instructor throughout the course by direct observation and questioning.
How soon after completing will I receive my certificate?
Usually about 10 days later. This will be emailed to you in e-format.
How long is the certificate valid for?
Three years from the completion date.
