The Jobshop is a comprehensive temporary student staff agency. Many local companies already use our service to find temporary student staff during busy periods. Thousands of students register with us for work each year, giving us access to a huge pool of temporary staff.
You can use Jobshop as much or as little as you like. We accept both long and short term bookings (anything from a one-off, three hour assignment) and deal with a wide range of vacancies including bar/catering, office/clerical, skilled and unskilled promotional and manual work.
Jobshop is owned and run jointly by Cardiff University and Cardiff University Students' Union. All the money generated by Jobshop is invested directly back into the Students’ Union, which helps us continue to provide a wide variety of services for students.
How much does it cost?
Our total charges per hour are:
Age under 25: £9.77 per hour + VAT
Age 25 and over: £10.28 per hour + VAT
These are calculated as follows:
Age under 25:
£7.38 (basic rate in line with the adult National Minimum Wage)
£0.89 (12.07% Working Time Directive charge)
£1.50 (Jobshop administration charge)
Total £9.77 per hour* + VAT
*This figure includes all payroll and administration costs and is based on the current adult National Minimum Wage rate of £7.38 per hour.
Age 25 and over:
£7.83 (basic rate in line with the National Living Wage)
£0.95 (12.07% Working Time Directive charge)
£1.50 (Jobshop administration charge)
Total £10.28 per hour* + VAT
*This figure includes all payroll and administration costs and is based on the current National Living Wage rate of £7.83 per hour.
How can I book staff?
Jobshop provides a complete temporary recruitment service. All our students are checked for eligibility to work in the UK. We ensure that our student staff meet the requirements that you have set and that they are fully briefed on what the job entails, what is expected of them and any required dress code.
