Event Information
Arrive at the track just before 7pm for a prompt start! The aim of the session will be to give you an idea of the type of training we will be doing over the next few months to get us in shape for the outdoor seasons.
Meet the lead Coach Gwen in the throws area - once you have entered through reception, go through the doors infront of you to the track. The Throws area is on the right, next to the first bend of the track.
Before Attending the session:
You need to purchase a slot on the Cardiff Met Sport App!
The Cardiff Met Sport app can be downloaded on all devices.
Go to Homepage > Book Open Athletics > Confirm you have read the decleration.
Select the 18:30 session on Monday 26/01/26. (The training session starts at 19:00, this booking slot includes the whole evening)

What to expect from the session:
This session is designed to be more introductory to show you what throwing is all about!
- We will start with some static and dynamic warmups, before our head coach Gwen will take you through some of our key throwing drills.
- Full coaching and assitance will be given throughout - you can be a complete beginner and attend these sessions.
What to bring:
- Appropriate exercise wear and footwear
- We will be indoors but the NIAC can be chilly in the winter, bring layers to keep warm

The track is located on the Cardiff Met Cyncoed Campus, with many forms of transportation available to and from the track (full details below).
The times and directions below were calculated from the Centre for Student Life on the main campus.
On foot:
- If travelling from the Centre for Student Life, 53 minutes walk
By bike:
- Follow the same route as if you were travelling on foot. It should take you around 21 minutes.
By car/taxi:
- Follow the same route as if you were cycling or travelling on foot. This should take between 12-15 minutes.
By bus:
- The 52 bus departs from Cathays every 30mins
- M1 Met Rider departs from Cathays every ~1hour
