Event Information
Our weekly conversational classes are held every Thursday between 5:30-7:30, with the first session back from winter holidays being held on the 29/01/2026 at St Germans Church. Class begins at 5:30, to get there a Cardiff student-lead walk is organised each session, meeting outside of the university’s Co-op on Senghenydd Road at 5, leaving for 5:10. In these classes, we hold casual conversational English with Refugees and Asylum Seekers over some fairtrade tea, coffee and confectionary! Our work is crucial to the community - creating a safe space and welcoming atmosphere catered towards people seeking asylum and refuge through our classes, seasonal celebrations and our annual Refugee Rhythms music event! This project doesn’t just stop at Cardiff, with branches across Scotland, Wales and England, we are a growing movement!
In the tabloids, on social media and in Parliament, anti-asylum and anti-refugee sentiment is echoing, and it is only getting louder. Join the Student Action for Refugees and let it be known, that all people are welcome- especially refugees and asylum seekers, and that we all share one common home - Earth.
We hope to see you there!
Love, the STAR Committee x
