Join Psychology Society, in collaboration with the School of Psychology, for an academic talk from Professor Robert Snowden on how suicide risk is assessed in clinical practice. ๐Ÿง ๐Ÿ‘จ๐Ÿป‍๐Ÿซ

This event is open to all students from every discipline, not just psychology. Whether you study medicine, law, nursing, social sciences, humanities or anything else, it's a chance to learn about an important topic and engage with the subject beyond your usual lectures. You don't need any background in psychology to attend.

If you do study psychology, you may already know Professor Robert Snowden. His research mainly focuses on violence and sexual violence, including the prediction and prevention of future violence. That includes work on psychopathy, personality disorders and mental illness as they relate to offending.

Come along to expand your knowledge, hear from an academic working in this area, and engage with the subject in a different way than you would in a lecture. It's a free hour in the middle of the day to learn something new, ask questions and hear from an academic who works in this area. Suicide risk assessment is a real tool used in practice, and it's rarely covered in depth outside specialist courses. It's also a good conversation starter for your CV, personal statements and placement or career interviews.

Content note: This talk covers suicide risk assessment which can be potentially triggering. Please take care of yourself and feel free to step out at any time. Help is available, don't hesitate to reach out for suppourt.

If you have any accessibility requirements or further questions about what to expect, just let a committee member know by DMing us on Instagram at @cu_psychsoc or emailing [email protected] in advance.

We look forward to seeing you there! ๐Ÿ—ฃ
