Event Information
Shilpa Shah is a barrister at Ropewalk Chambers, specialising in costs and personal injury litigation. She completed her studies at BPP Law School, where she was awarded First Prize for Advocacy and was called to Lincolns’ Inn, where she was awarded a Scholarship. She completed pro-bono work with the Free Representation Unit and the Citizens Advice Bureau before she began her pupillage at Ropewalk Chambers. Since then, she has developed an extensive, nationwide practice and is an experienced practitioner in costs, personal injury, inquests and clinical negligence.
She has a substantial practice across all aspects of costs and litigation funding, regularly appearing before all levels of the judiciary, including the County Court, High Court, and Senior Courts Costs Office, and has experience of cases in the Court of Appeal. She has remained a ‘Tier 1’ level Counsel on costs matters, with accolades and recognition in the Legal 500.
Her personal injury work encompasses high-value Fast Track and Multi-Track claims, including catastrophic injury cases, and a broad range of complex liability disputes. Shilpa is also frequently instructed in Coroner’s Inquests and has recently acted in matters involving high-profile deaths in custody, care providers, hospitals, road traffic accidents, workplace accidents, and infant deaths.
She particularly enjoys work-shadowing students accompanying her on ‘juicy’ cases and welcomes applications from candidates interested in joining her.
