Event Information

This year we're merging our annual start of year blitz tournament with our Give it a Go event in order to provide a social that caters to every type of chess player! This is a GIAG Chess event for all abilities, players new and returning! 

If you've never played chess before or haven't played since you were 4 then those new to the game will have an opportunity to learn from our resident titled player and meet some other beginners along the way in a relaxed environment.

Minor section - Intermediate players can test their skills against friends in the 'Minor' section of our tournament and make some more friends along the way; for no fee players can enter and compete to win the section. Recommended for those rated below 1300.

Major section - Confident, skilled and returning players can enter our 'Major' section of the tournment where the competition will be fierce, prizes will be great and games will be FIDE rated. This section will have a small entry fee of £7.50. Recommended for those rated above above 1300. 

Casual play will also be available, boards permitted.

Time - 7pm to 10pm, please turn up on time so that the tournaments can run to timings

Spaces for this event are sadly limited, so please ensure you purchase your ticket well ahead of time - especially if you'd like to play in either of the tournament sections. Individuals without a ticket will have to be turned away unfortunately.
