Event Information
First Club Day of the Year!
Hey everyone, we are really excited to offer our first club day this Saturday at our new club, Longdole! This will be like a normal lesson, but with drinks and food available in the clubhouse, and the chance to play handmallet games and practise on the wooden horse, and talk to our coaches about any and everything! Transport will be arranged, so please keep reading for the details.
What's a clubday?
-
New this year we are introducing club days once a month where we would love as many members as possible to come. It will be a day out for the club that lets us socialise, practise, have food and drinks and ask any stupid questions, as a group!
How will the day go?
Your options to pass your time:
-
Have a lesson
-
Handmallet/wooden horse practise
-
Watching, (and learning?) others polo matches/lessons
-
Eating and drinking in their lovely warm clubhouse, doing whatever you'd like!
Everyone will have their lessons like you normally would, while the rest of the club is welcome to watch and learn from the warm and cozy clubhouse, or practise on the wooden horse or handmallets in the field! For freshers and those new to polo, this is a great chance to watch more advanced lessons and see how your progression will look at different stages, and give you realistic goals of what to aim for and expect.
-
We expect to have about three lessons, but this depends on the amount of interest. We will also include handmallets games after lunch/if time allows, and the club will provide lunch options too, (more details will follow on the groupchat).
-
Outside of handmallet and wooden horse practise, or watching and learning from other lessons, this will be a great chance to talk to our coaches Lorna and Mikey. They are really looking forward to working closely with us this year, and are both amazing teachers. If you compete at nationals they will be your coaches there too,
Who can come
-
All members, including social members
-
If you would like a lesson, you simply buy it as normal, and social members/members who don’t want a lesson, can come for free! (with a fiver for fuel to your driver like normal please).
-
You’re more than welcome to invite friends if you know someone who wants to watch polo/come socially! Please message Santiago privately.
CHALLENGE DAYS
Our first club day will fall on Londgole’s first Challenge match day! This is a match day within the Longdoyle Academy that we have been invited to join. It is open to all members, and is a great chance to get more experience in a game situation before nationals, if you choose to play there.
Longdole have been very kind and waived the entry fee for us if you choose to play.
We understand it is more than a lesson, so for now we recommend that only players who have played at nationals/have played polo before enter.
We will have lessons as normal after the matches, so this Challenge Day will be a great chance for beginners to see a real game of polo and learn what to expect if you choose to come to nationals/play in one of our varsity or friendly matches with other universities.
