Famous First Words is a party and a gameshow rolled into one. It's fast, frantic and entertaining. This is NOT karaoke!
Ever wondered what would happen if karaoke had consequences, Don't Forget the Lyrics got some bottle and Stars in Their Eyes involved real glory in front of a baying, boozed-up Gladiator-style crowd?
Well wonder no more, as Famous First Words, the devilishly addictive live music experience created and hosted by TV presenters Tim & Gendle, is here.
It's simple – step up and sing along to the first line of a song.

Cardiff Students' Union hosts the only official Freshers' events in Cardiff.
Be cautious – many events advertised online are not affiliated with Cardiff University or the Students' Union.

โฟ Accessibility
Step Free Access – Y Plas has step-free access using the lift outside the Centre for Student Life.
Accessible Toilets – There is a step-free accessible toilet in Cwtch, locked with a RADAR key. Keys can be collected from the Welcome Centre. There are also toilets with and without urinals.
Emergency Evacuation – Evacuation procedures are in place to ensure your safety while taking your individual access requirements into account.
Quieter Spaces – Our Welcome Centre offers a quieter space for you to use, and additional seating is available throughout the venue.
๐ง๐ค๐ง Entry Policy
Strictly 18+, student ID required.
Advance tickets guarantee you entry until 20:00. After this time, tickets remain valid; however, entry will be subject to venue capacity.
Student guests are permitted – one guest per Cardiff University student. You must provide valid photo ID (passport or driving licence) and an alternative student ID card.

Y Plas is one of the largest Students' Union nightclubs in the UK, with the city's biggest and best club nights. We're proud that these events are a core part of the Cardiff student experience.
Ensuring students can have fun safely is fundamental to how we run every event. As a not-for-profit venue, we invest heavily in safety initiatives – from welfare spaces and trained staff to clear policies that prioritise inclusion and respect.
In return, we require our attendees to help keep themselves and others in the venue safe by playing their part to keep the student community safe and ensuring at all times their behaviour is in line with our Code of Practice.
