Black History Month
October marks Black History Month (BHM), a time to commemorate the history of Black communities and celebrate their immense contribution to society. BHM is an opportunity to be educated on, and celebrate, the wonderfully diverse cultures and histories of Black people in the UK and across the world, whilst contributing to the fight against racial prejudice and discrimination.
Standing Firm in Power and Pride
The theme for Black History Month UK 2025 is “Standing Firm in Power and Pride,” a powerful tribute to the resilience, strength, and unwavering commitment to progress that defines the Black community across the globe. This year, the theme highlights the profound contributions made by Black people be they leaders, activists, or pioneers who have shaped history, while also looking towards a future of continued empowerment, unity, and growth.

As your Students’ Union, we will be using our platforms to bring this campaign to life by celebrating the achievements and contributions of Black people in Cardiff and around the world to promote inclusivity and strengthen our student community. Our support to the Black community in Cardiff does not stop here, as we pledge to ensure that Black history is represented and celebrated all year round.
Black History Month Events
Throughout October, we are hosting and promoting events, sharing resources, and starting conversations online and across campus. Information will be added to this page throughout the month so keep checking back to find out how you can get involved.

Book Club
We are bringing back the Black History Month Book Club this year! The novel chosen to align with this year's theme is 'Brit(ish)' by Afua Hirsch.
Book Collection will be from 11AM to 12:30PM on October 1st, with meetings occurring every Monday in October in room 3G from 3PM-4PM. If you miss the window for book collection, you can email VPInternationalStudents@cardiff.ac.uk to see if there are any copies of the book left to collect.
Mis Hanes Pobl Ddu
Mae mis Hydref yn nodi Mis Hanes Pobl Ddu, cyfle i goffáu hanes cymunedau du a dathlu eu cyfraniadau aruthrol i gymdeithas. Mae Mis Hanes Pobl Ddu yn gyfle i gael ein haddysgu ar, a dathlu, diwylliannau amrywiol a hanesion pobl du yn y DU ac ar draws y byd, tra'n cyfrannu at y frwydr yn erbyn rhagfarn a gwahaniaethu hiliol.
Sefyll yn Gadarn gyda Grym a Balchder
Thema Mis Hanes Pobl Ddu y DU 2025 yw “Sefyll yn Gadarn gyda Grym a Balchder”, teyrnged bwerus i’r gwydnwch, y cryfder, a’r ymrwymiad diysgog i gynnydd sy’n diffinio’r gymuned Ddu ledled y byd. Eleni, mae’r thema’n tynnu sylw at gyfraniadau gwefreiddiol a wnaed gan bobl Ddu, boed yn arweinwyr, yn ymgyrchwyr, neu’n arloeswyr sydd wedi llunio hanes, tra hefyd yn edrych tuag at ddyfodol o rymuso, undod a thwf parhaus.
Gallwch ddysgu mwy am hyn ar wefan swyddogol Mis Hanes Pobl Ddu.
Fel eich Undeb Myfyrwyr byddwn yn defnyddio ein llwyfannau i ddod â’r ymgyrch hon yn fyw drwy ddathlu cyflawniadau a chyfraniadau pobl ddu yng Nghaerdydd a ledled y byd i hybu cynhwysiant a chryfhau ein cymuned myfyrwyr. Nid yw ein cefnogaeth i’r gymuned Ddu yng Nghaerdydd yn dod i ben yma, gan i ni wneud addewid i sicrhau bod hanes du yn cael ei gynrychioli a’i ddathlu drwy gydol y flwyddyn.
Digwyddiadau Mis Hanes Pobl Ddu
Drwy gydol mis Hydref, rydym yn cynnal ac yn hyrwyddo digwyddiadau, yn rhannu adnoddau, ac yn dechrau sgyrsiau ar-lein ac ar draws y campws. Bydd gwybodaeth yn cael ei hychwanegu at y dudalen hon drwy gydol y mis felly cadwch lygad allan i ddarganfod sut y gallwch chi gymryd rhan.
Os ydych chi, eich grwp neu’ch ysgol yn cynnal digwyddiad neu fenter ar gyfer Mis Hanes Pobl Ddu a hoffech i Undeb y Myfyrwyr gefnogi drwy hyrwyddo, bod yn bresennol neu weithredu, llenwch y ffurflen hon os gwelwch yn dda a wnawn ni ymateb cyn gynted ag y gallwn.

Clwb Llyfrau
Rydym yn dod â Chlwb Llyfrau Mis Hanes Pobl Ddu yn ôl eleni! Y nofel a ddewiswyd i gyd-fynd â thema eleni yw 'Brit(ish)' gan Afua Hirsch.
Bydd llyfrau’n cael eu casglu o 11yb i 12:30yp ar Hydref y 1af, gyda chyfarfodydd yn digwydd bob dydd Llun ym mis Hydref yn ystafell 3G o 3yp-4yp. Os ydych chi’n colli’r slot ar gyfer casglu llyfrau, gallwch anfon e-bost at VPInternationalStudents@cardiff.ac.uk i weld a oes unrhyw gopïau o’r llyfr ar ôl i’w casglu.
