Ice Skating Club
Cardiff University Ice Skating Club (CUISC) is all about encouraging people to try out ice skating, be it for the first time or joining as a regular skater.
We welcome skaters of all abilities!
Training sessions take place on Wednesday afternoons from 13:30 - 14:30 at the Vindico Arena Cardiff, with three NISA qualified coaches providing Skate UK curriculum for beginners, intermediate and advanced groups.
There will be a chance to perform at the end of each term and practice time will be provided during the sessions.
We also hold socials every Wednesday to give members a chance to meet outside of the rink, make friends and have fun as a community.
The club is a great way to socialise, keep fit and do something a little different whilst at university!

What does my membership cover?
Only those with memberships will get access to purchase our weekly sessions, the ability to attend our socials, which are now sponsored by The Taf and Vk Drink, so will include lots of discounts and freebies!
Additionaly the membership includes our off-ice training stretch/ choreo class completely free! These classes are taught by our Team Captain Freya, or guest coaches!
It also includes discounted tickets to our winter and summer balls, merch and more!
What does my £7 weekly ticket cover?
Your weekly skate session ticket covers 1 hour of coaching from our three NISA qualified coaches in accordance with your skill level. It also allows us to hire out the whole rink just for our club! An open skate at the local rink is £11, £13.50 with skate hire, without the added bonus of 3 qualified coaches which can be up to £60 per coach, so with CUISC membership you are receiving a huge discount on these premiums!
Our GIAGs usually attract a large number of students however once this rush is over, our classes become much more intimate and personalised to our members' goals. So have in mind that our usual sessions are not as hectic as the GIAGs.
£3 skate hire is available from the rink if you don't have your own skates!

Give it a go!
We welcome everyone to our Give It A Go sessions. Just like our regular sessions, there is 5-10 minutes to warm up before splitting into three groups based on skill level - beginner, intermediate, and advanced. Each group is assigned one of our lovely coaches and they will teach ice skating drills for the session. No need to worry about having never skated before! Skate hire is included with the ticket price (giag's only - £3 extra for regular sessions). On the day of the Giag's, the committee members will meet at Cathays train station at midday and travel to Cogan station from which there is a short walk to the rink!
Please be mindful that we may be taking pictures and videos for our social media, if you do not wish to be in any of these please let any of the committee members know.
