AI Safety Cardiff University
We are AI Safety Cardiff University (AISCU), a Cardiff society where students from any degree type can explore the safety, alignment and governance of increasingly capable AI systems. We'll look at why powerful AI might be hard to control, how it could go very badly wrong, and what good solutions might look like – from UK / US / EU / Chinese policy to interpretability, biosecurity and AI law (don't worry if that all feels like meaningless jargon to you at this stage!).
We run accessible talks and discussions based on high‑quality material, plus socials and signposting to professional and educational opportunities (fellowships, internships, events, research opportunities, technical & non-technical AI safety career options, etc). Expect yummy free food too!
You don’t need a technical background, just bring curiosity and a willingness to think seriously about long‑term AI risks. We welcome beginners.
Once you've joined, you will be eligible to apply for our introductory "Fundamentals Fellowship" to AI safety. Applications can be sent via the AISCU website.
