Women in Chemistry Society

What are we?

We’re a community for women in chemistry* and science to connect, support each other, and have a bit of fun along the way!

Whether you want to meet new people, share experiences, build your confidence, or figure out what’s next for your career, this is a space where you can do all of that. We’ll also help you pick up useful skills, hear from inspiring people, and explore opportunities both inside and outside academia. With members ranging from first year to PhD, there will always be someone to lean on for academic or personal support!

What we do?

• Coffee mornings: bi-weekly coffee mornings to catch up and talk all things science

• Social drinks: chance to let our hair down and get to know each other outside of labs and lectures

• Monthly meetings: we will run skills workshops based on course relevance at that time

• Autumn symposium: afternoon where current students from all levels will have a chance to present their current research, and all are welcome to listen

• Annual conference: full day where a wide array of guest speakers will be invited to talk about a wide array of topics within chemistry

* Women in Chemistry recognises that genger is not binary and welcomes members who are cis and trans women as well as genderqueer and non-binary people!
