MQ Student Ambassador

MQ Student Ambassador

What is the volunteering role?

What are the aims of this organisation/role?

One in four people (that’s almost 16 million people) are affected by a mental health condition every year, yet research is still severely underfunded. MQ exists to change that. Our collective goal is to better understand mental illness through research, with the hope of one day preventing it all together. We invest into research grants and fellowships at many of the world’s leading universities, which result in life-changing breakthroughs. The aim of our student ambassador role is to help raise awareness of mental health and the work of MQ within student communities as well as raising funds for the charity. You will become a fundamental part of the MQ team, representing a key part of our commitment to involve the public and young people in our core activities. If you have been affected by mental health, either directly or indirectly, or are simply looking to make a difference, we would love you to join the MQ team!

What can volunteers expect to gain?

You will have the chance to make a meaningful impact on campus and support pioneering mental health research as well as an opportunity to gain great new skills to add to your CV. It will also help to build confidence, expand your network and you will be able to connect with MQ researchers and staff. We are happy to reimburse any reasonable travel expenses you may incur whilst volunteering with us. Student Ambassadors will receive ongoing support throughout the programme, including guidance from a dedicated MQ contact, access to training and fundraising resources and opportunities to connect with other ambassadors through events and research webinars.

What skills and abilities do I need to take on this role?

You do not need any previous fundraising experience for this role. We are looking for Student Ambassadors who are passionate about mental health, able to build connections within their student community, encourage others to get involved and take initiative in supporting awareness and fundraising activities.

Where is this opportunity based?

Volunteering activities will mainly take place on campus or remotely. Students who choose to take part in challenge events can get involved in opportunities either near their university or elsewhere across the country.

Monthly
