Student Scout and Guide and Duke of Edinburgh's Award Society

Cardiff’s SSAGS (Student Scout And Guides) and DofE (Duke of Edinburgh) society is a group set up for like minded students who have been members of The Scout Association, Girl Guiding UK, or who are looking to continue their Duke of Edinburgh's Gold Award whilst at university, although all are welcome and no previous affiliation is necessary.

We host a varied mix of socials that take place on various nights each week, with activities ranging from more active pursuits such as climbing and caving to more relaxed socials such as cooking, crafts and sometimes just heading to a pub or two.

For those of you who would like to take part in the DofE award scheme, we arrange training and skill sessions to  allow you to be up to the challenge of completing the final expedition for the Gold award.

For those of you who just love camping, as members of SSAGO - the national Student Scout and Guide Organisation - we take part in national camps with other university groups from across the UK at least once every term.

You don't need to be associated with Scouts or Guiding to join us, nor do you have to complete your DofE training, we are a relaxed society that welcomes anyone to join us for a chat, a walk or just hanging out in the SU.

For those of you wanting to volunteer with local Scout and/or Guide groups, we can arrange for you to meet with local leaders who you can then work with to find the perfect group for you.

More information of each element of our society can be found in the other tabs along the top of this page.
