Training

As a Rep you will receive training at the start of the Academic year. Here you will learn how to be a rep, along with some handy hints and tips that will help you make the most of your role. It is a chance for you to meet other reps on your course and start creating a community. It is really useful to talk with reps that are returning or in a different year to you as they may have further knowledge on the system and the University.

We are happy to provide bespoke training so you learn specific things about your school. In this we can discus previous issues and how they have been solved along with ongoing issues. We will also give you access to stats about your school on things like feedback, organisation and overall satisfaction using the NSS dashboards. Training will me organised by your school and will take place in-school.

During the first PGRR meeting of the year we will be holding training as well. We will also provide further training throughout the year for anyone who wants it. For the March intake of nurses there will also be another set of training available and postgrads that start in January.

Online Training

Take a look at the Student Academic Rep Presentation. Keep an eye out on here for the assessed online training that will count as you having been trained to be a Rep, coming soon.

Postgrad Research Representative Forum (PGRR Forum)

As a Student Academic Rep you are expected to attend a number of meetings throughout the year. One of the most significant meetings is the Postgrad Research Representative (PGRR) Forum which takes place at least once a semester. These meetings are your key opportunity to be consulted on changes to the Postgrad Research experience and where you can raise your ideas and concerns. You will meet to discuss issues affecting the postgraduate research community at Cardiff. The forum has been run for many years and is now chaired by the Vice President Postgraduate Alex Kuklenko with admin support from the Student Voice team and advice from Postgraduate Executive. Each school is expected to send at least one PGR Rep to this meeting, but all PGR reps are welcome the more the merrier.
