TyGwyn Project

TyGwyn Project

This project is inactive.

Specially designed, every detail of the home’s layout is created to enhance the independence and dignity of residents. Ty Gwyn is situated within its own grounds in a peaceful residential area on Stanwell Road in Penarth.

This project aims to work around what you want to get out of volunteering whilst enhancing the lives of the residents.

All volunteers need a DBS unless working in groups of two or more where they have already applied for the DBS. For specific 1 to 1 volunteers for example with residents that do not leave their room must have DBS.

Volunteers are welcome to come any time at all to fit their schedule 7 days a week for minimum 30mins to a full day. If volunteers are there for a day they are provided with a free meal.

Things that you can do/contribute as a volunteer:

Play an instrument/sing for the residents

Bake and cook

Teach how to use tech

Chair fitness and yoga

Share cultural traditions and celebrations (for example burns night, Chinese new year etc)

Arts and craft

Befriending

Tea and company

If you are trained in hair & beauty and nails or aromatherapy etc the care home is also looking for you also.

If volunteers need bit and bobs for dissertations TyGwyn is happy to facilitate this if they can help.

TyGwyn can also offer a lot of opportunities for volunteers looking for hospitality experience such as preparing and serving meals, getting rooms ready and customer-facing roles including admin.

Need weekend volunteers and 1 to 1 befriending volunteers but all volunteers welcome.

Every other Wednesday there are minibus trips for the residents to shopping or local attractions this would need a few regular volunteers. These specific trips volunteers must have a DBS and in-house training with TyGwyn before doing this aspect.

Download a Ty Gwyn Brochure to find out more about the home.
