In partnership with Cardiff Council Housing Services, this project won our Community Impact Award in 2018 and 2019!
As a volunteer, you have the opportunity to engage with people at risk of homelessness at either Greenfarm family hostel or Adams Court family hostel (you will be allocated to one hostel for the duration of your time as a volunteer on this project for the academic year). We are looking for 12 confident student volunteers.
Activities could range from arts and crafts to playing games or baking to just having a cup of coffee and a chat. You will visit during term time on Wednesday afternoons with your fellow volunteers and your lead volunteer. Full training is given and you'll also receive the benefits of that of a Cardiff Council member of staff. Such a rewarding project that the beneficiaries (adults and children) really enjoy, as well as the volunteers.
You do not need prior experience to be on this project.
This project is perfect for anyone studying Psychology, PGCE, Education or anyone who would like experience working with vulnerable people or children.
You will need an enhanced DBS for this project to which we will provide for you free of charge.
Transport is reimbursed by Cardiff Volunteering if you keep your original receipts and claim it back within 3 months.
If you would like to be put on the interest list ready for the academic year 2019/2020 please E-mail Doveyl@cardiff.ac.uk to be considered.
